Success Story

TCL Corporation

Founded in 1981, TCL Corporation is one of the biggest consumer electronics groups in china. Since the acquisition of the Thomson Color TV in 2004, TCL has built up a worldwide business framework. It sold more than 22 million color TV’s in 2005, hence it is ranked among the top TV manufacturers in the world.

This rapid growth has raised major challenges for their logistics department. To better integrate their supply chain, TCL formed Speed Distribution Co. to manage the logistics for the entire TCL Corporation. TCL selected vTradEx’s eLOG Enterprise Suite as its logistics platform to achieve competitive advantage through superior supply chain management.

The platform integrates TCL’s transportation and warehouse operations across China, thereby enabling Speed Co. to plan its shipments, manage its 3PL partners such as NanFang Logistics, PGL Logistics as well as AnDe Logistics who provide services for TCL’s 6 Centralized DCs and 52 Regional DCs in China. The system consolidates transportation lanes, manages warehouse inventories and provides supply chain visibility for TCL and its partners.

Speed Co plans the logistics for TCL’s extended network, outsources its execution and monitors the execution of that plan. By using the eLOG Enterprise Suite, TCL can provide useful and timely information to its 3PL providers, thereby becoming a true 4PL in China’s home electronics industry.

KERRY OILS & GRAINS (SHENZHEN) CO., LTD.

Kerry Oils & Grains Shenzhen Ltd is owned by Kuok Group. The Group's mills and refineries in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines and China process sugar, wheat and other grains, soybean and edible oils for distribution and sale locally and for export. Kerry Oils & Grains has more than 10 manufacturing bases that produce edible oil. It has established a nation-wide distribution network for packaging, marketing and distribution of food products in China and overseas markets. “Gold Fish” edible Oil is ranked number one brand in China with more than 30% of market share.

In order to face the challenge from the rapid introduction of similar products by its competitors, Kerry needed a better way to manage its distributor and branch sales offices. How to collect information quickly from the point of sale? How to monitor the inventory within the distribution network? How to decide quickly to respond to the rapid changes in the market? Kerry decided to launch a Data Warehousing project that will evolve into their decision support platform.

We successfully combined vTradEx’s in-depth experience in data modeling and business intelligence with Kerry’s knowledge of distribution management to develop a unique decision support platform. Internally, Kerry integrated its accounting, inventory and distribution systems, and established the KPI controls that greatly reduced the marketing cost for each brand. Externally, Kerry extended its data services to its distributors, thereby strengthening their partnership.

The success of this project has made Kerry’s data analysis become available for all divisions. This has helped in its production planning as well as in reducing its inventory. vTradEx’s technology has enabled Kerry to achieve its vision of becoming the number one company in the food grain industry in the 21st century.
